Books I bought at the Lisbon Book Fair 2021

Hi there!

August slipped away into a moment in time. Our girl Taylor is always right. But we are not here to talk about the queen, maybe another time.

We are here to talk about the book fair that happened in Lisbon during the last week of august and first week of september. I went twice, once with my boyfriend (who is not a reader but stills supports me being one) and another time with a friend. I went crazy and spent a lot of money because I have no control when it comes to books (who has?).

I bought a total of nine books and I don’t regret it. The only thing I regret is not buying the complete works of Jane Austen box set, but that was like 30€ and I had spent enough already. Maybe I will buy it next year, but for now, let’s get into the ones I actually got.

1. Bared to You & Entwined to You by Sylvia Day

Now, this is a funny story. I had bought the second book Refleted in You some years ago in a second hand fair that used to happen in my town. I read it and I loved it only to find out it was part of a series. Since that day I have been looking for the rest of the books. I can say that I did not pay the full price for a single book in the series. And when I saw the ones missing at the Lisbon Book Fair I couldn’t let this opportunity escape. So now that I have the whole series I can read it and enjoy as I should have done all that years ago.

2. A slow fire burning by Paula Hawkins

I never read anything written by Paula Hawkins before. I tried to read The Girl on the Train but I didn’t go very far; I didn’t make it past the first page. Paula Hawkins is one of the favourite authors of a friend and I thought I could give this one a chance. It is a thriller after all and I have been loving that genre. Besides, I know she will want to have someone to comment the book after reading it. I must admit I’m pretty excited to start reading another thriller.

3. Infinity Reaper by Adam Silvera

Guys, shut up. I was so excited to finally get this one. But as soon as I got home, it struck me! I got the second book! AGAIN! For the second time in my life I got the second book in a series! But it’s fine, I’m already looking for the first book in all second hand sites.

4. Tell me Your Secret by Dorothy Koomson

OK, I will never pass by a book from this amazing author and not bring it with me! She is one of my favourite authors and I will buy every single book of her every time I see one I don’t already have. That’s how I love her work. Besides, she went from romance to thrillers really well. I love everything she writes. She is that good of a writer.

5. An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare, illustrated by Cassandra Jean

This is another case of “I will buy everything I see” but this applies not to the author (although I love Cassandra Clare to death) but to the fictional world. This is one of the best fictional worlds I’ve ever dived in! So I can’t help but buy everything that has the word Shadowhunter in the cover.

6. The revised fundamentals of caregiving by Jonathan Evison

I’m a huge Selena Gomez’s fan and I watched the movie because of her. I loved the movie and when I was researching more about the movie I found out that was based on the book I had to read it. So thank you Selena for making me wanting to read another book.

7. Britt-Marie was here by Fredrik Backman

I honestly don’t have much to say about this book. I only bought because I heard a lot of good things and I’m curious enough to make me buy and read it. Also, it had a 50% discount so I couldn’t miss that.

9. Landline by Rainbow Rowell

If we don’t include the sequels to Carry On, Landline was the only book I had to buy to finish my Rainbow Rowell collection. I had read bought and read every book she wrote but this one. And now that I have it, I can’t wait to read it. I love all the books Rainbow Rowell wrote. Should I consider her my favourite author?

And that’s a wrap guys! Those are all the books I bought at the Book Fair and I can’t wait for the next year edition. I know I will spend as much money as this year, but I regret nothing. What about you guys? Have you read any of the books I mentioned above?
