What I want to read this year

Hi there!

2022 began and so has the yearly TBR. This year I want to read at least 30 books. I have noticed that I’m reading less since I was given more work at the office. My work time is the same, but as I’m under more pressure and stress, my willingness to read is being reduced. So in this list, I have reunited some books that have been resting on my bookshelf. Let’s dig into it…

Books mentioned

1.  Imaginary friend by Stephen Chbosky

It is about a single mother and his son running away from their past life. When they arrive at Mill Groove, their dream of a sweet home seems to become reality. Christopher disappears for six days and when he reappears, everything seems fine. What no one knows is that Christopher didn’t come back alone. There is a voice that only he can hear, a bad omen.

This book was released last year and everyone was talking about it all over bookstagram. When I knew it was written by The Perks Of Being A Wallflower author, I knew I needed to read it. The perks of being a wallflower is one of my favourite books/ movies ever. I hope I won’t be disappointed.

2. Vicious by V.E. Schwab

Victor and Eli are two lonely boys addicted to adrenaline and near-death experiences, what reveals an amazing possibility: that someone can develop extraordinary abilities, under the right conditions.

Ten years later, when Victor breaks out of prison, he is determined to catch his old friend (that is now his rival), aided by a young girl with impressive ability. In the meantime, Eli is on a mission to eliminate every super-powered person that he can find, except his sidekick.

Armed with terrible powers from both sides, the sworn enemies have set their course for revenge, but who will stay alive at the end?

V. E. Schwab is an author I want to read since I first heard of her. The first time I heard of her was on Booktube and they talked so well that it raised my curiosity. Also, the genre is fantasy and I love a good fantasy book. Magic, what else do I need to say?

3. The places I’ve cried in public by Holly Bourne

Amanda has a broken heart and now knows that love isn’t supposed to hurt like she’s hurting. So she is visiting all the places her ex-boyfriend made her cry to try and get over him once and for all.

I don’t know much about this book. I read It only happens in the movies and I loved it; it was a five-star reading. I hope this one to be as good as the one I read.

4. The Maze Runner series by James Dashner

I read the first book last year and I kind of liked it. It is not the genre I’m used to, but I want to get out of my comfort zone more. And I love the movies, so why not give a chance to the books?

5. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I got this book ages ago and it’s been laying on my shelves since. This is the year I read it, I swear! It is a retelling and I love that kind of book. I will go into it without knowing a thing but that. I have high hopes and I hope to really enjoy it.

I hope I can reach my Goodreads challenge goal this year, as I couldn’t for three years already. I miss devouring books the way I used to. Maybe I am not reading the right books. I want to post about the books I’ve been reading for the last months (not that many), so stay stunned!

I have been posting more on my bookstagram so don’t forget to follow me there too!

See you next time!!
